My Top 10 Tips for a Successful Newborn Session

1. Keep baby awake before you arrive (if possible):
A little awake time before you come helps baby sleep deeply during the session.

2. Feed baby right before you leave the house:
A full belly means a calm, sleepy, poseable newborn. You can also top-up feed once you arrive to your session.

3. Dress baby in something easy to remove:
Choose a loose-fitting zip or snap onesie with no tight socks or mittens. This makes transitions gentler without disturbing baby too much.

4. Expect a warm studio:
The room will be warm to keep baby comfortable. Dress in light layers so you stay comfortable too.

5.Parents should wear neutral, simple clothing:
Soft neutrals photograph beautifully and keep the focus on baby. Avoid bold patterns or neon colors.

6. Plan for 2–3 hours:
Newborn sessions take time. Feeding, soothing, and little breaks are all part of the process.

7. Bring extra milk + essentials:
Whether nursing or bottle-feeding, bring extra milk, diapers, and burp cloths and a pacifier (even if you aren't using one).

8. Don’t worry about fussiness—it's totally normal:
Crying, feeding breaks, diaper changes, cluster feeding—they’re all expected. I work at baby’s pace, not the clock.

9. Keep siblings well-rested and bring snacks:
If siblings are joining, bring small, non-messy snacks and quiet activities.

10. Stay relaxed—your baby can feel your energy:
Baby's sense stress. Staying calm and trusting the process helps the session flow smoothly.
